Katy joins us at Alton RV Park

Our son Duncan's fiancee Katy came out from Columbus where she works at OSU small animal vet surgery dept ( only 15 minutes away ) and we had a delightful evening at a local restaraunt. The undoubted highlight of the trip so far . Surrounded by huge RV's our little tent ( and party ) was dwarfed , but the table that came with the site was comfortable enough for pre dinner drinks.
Also above is end of 97 miles of cycle trail - just like that . Very spoilt we had become . Today ( Tuesday May 5 ) produced v different conditions . On back roads nevertheless and despite strongish NE wind against us , we made good progress to Delaware . Excellent bike shop who refused to take any payment for tightening up spokes on my back wheel. Far too much weight takes its toll ! Now fuelled and rested , we head for campsite 14 miles east . Tally to date - 62, 48 and today 46 miles in 1st 3 days. Wind largely against, but cool and mostly sunny . Rain forecast though. Mary fortified mentally with her smart new Ortieb panniers. I'm sticking with black binliners for now .

Top photo spells out graphically penalties for trespassers. We rode on .
